Project Introduction of supercritical extraction with CO₂

    The project was approved by the feasible report issued by Shaanxi Planing Committee in June 30, 1998. The company introduced from UHDE Company of Germany the complete equipment and processing technology for high-pressure extraction of supercritical CO₂. The project aims at further processing farm products and byproducts, plants as well as Chinese herbal medicine, distilling effective ingredients with high additional value and fat & non-polar substances. These products, with the advanced processing beyond the traditional one, can be extracted as biologic pharmaceutical intermediates, food, health care products, cosmetic additives and single Chinese herbal medicine. The processing adopts the most advanced physical extraction free from pollution in the world. The equipment is advanced and reliable with over 90% extraction rate. Currently, 18 products have been accepted for industrialization production (among which 5 products adopted technology introduced from Germany, the rest were co-developed with Northwest University and Qinghua University).

    Processing & Equipment

    1. Advanced Processing Supercritical extraction is a high technology that began to be developed in the world in the late '80. It is the most advanced technology because it realized chemical separation without leftover. Large-scale industrialization production had failed to be carried out for no proper metal material to make large extraction kettles that withstood over 450kgs pressure before 1992. UHDE Company from Germany realized the industrialization of supercritical extraction by processing metal materials with computers, which made the kettles with a volume from 500-800L and a pressure up to 14,000kg. In addition to the equipment introduction, the company passed large-scale industrialization production on the introduced equipment and co-developed processing for 13 products with Northwest University and Qinghua University. These technologies currently filled in the domestic gaps, some of which are the first in the world such as the extraction of Kiwi seed oil and arteannuin.

    2. Advanced Equipment The complete equipment is introduced from UHDE Company of Germany, which is the largest hi-pressure equipment manufacturer with the leading processing and equipment of supercritical extraction in the world. The equipment and processing parameters are all controlled by computers with high automatization, convenient operation and reliable running. The production goes normally. The other secondary equipment, purchased from local famous enterprises, services the production.
